UIFN stands for Universal International Freephone Number. The word “universal” points to the fact that these numbers have the same format in all of the 50 countries they can be activated in, which is +800 followed by 8 digits.
The plus in +800 refers to the international call prefix which needs to be dialed before dialing the UIFN. Since in most countries the international call prefix is 00, UIFN are also often known as 00800 numbers.
A UIFN can always be called for free from a landline phone, however, in some countries UIFN are not yet available from mobile networks or can only be called from a mobile phone at a premium rate.
Having only one freephone number for all your international customers can be great for marketing and promotion, as you need to publish only one number on your websites, business cards, letters etc. So it pays off to choose a UIFN your customers can easily remember, such as a vanity number or a nice number, +800 00123456 for instance.
We offer you the option to choose your own UIFN. Simply go to our UIFN search engine and fill in an 8-digit number sequence. If you see the message “no record found” the number is still available and we will be able to activate this number for you.
